The college marks the transition from the end of childhood to the start of adolescence. The development psychologist Erik Erikson describes the transition as a passage from the industry and inferiority stage (6-12 years) in the stage of identity confusion in relation to the role (12-18 years). Sixth year students take place in particular between these two stages. They develop a feeling of competence and confidence in their capacities (industry), but they also begin to explore their identity and thus test the limits and to navigate the pressure of peers.
