Kokomo, Miss. (AP) – Myrtle, a turtle taken for pets, found his family at Mississippi a few weeks after having disappeared during a mortal Tornado epidemic In March.
“He has gone through a lot,” said the grateful owner of Myrtle, Tiffany Emanuel. “I know he knows as much as I do at every stage of how I will be there to help him, take care of himself, making sure he gets, you know, the help he needs.”
The Emanuel family fled their house in the Kokomo rural region as Tornado Hit March 15. They returned to find that two pines had fallen above the house in the backyard of their turtle.
Myrtle was missing.
A few weeks later, a neighbor found the turtle injured. He was taken to the central Mississippi Turtle Rescue for medical treatment on April 4.
“The lady who found the turtle called me and she said that she had met the owners,” said Christy Milbourne, founder and co -director of the organization. “She said,” I think they’ll call you. “So, I was excited, then the owners called and said:” Yeah, it's my turtle. “”
Emanuel was now myrtle to health.
“It feels good to have a kind of pleasure with so much sadness and sorrow and loss,” said Emanuel.
