Maycee Steele is never far from the page for you. Of its creation of the mega-popular “cuff” Dance Challenge with Kaitlyn Hardy in 2022 for her presence as a rescue dancer in the choreography of the always trendy tour of Tate McRae, she has the talent to move in a joyful way and full to being fueled.
Originally from Kansas City that has been dancing since the age of 3, Steele has made its debut in the competitive dance circuit. Throughout her adolescence, she danced the ballet during the week and competed on the weekend, finally helped Velocity, Pulse, Radix and other conventions. At 18, Steele moved to Los Angeles to start her professional dance career, and she has since worked with artists like Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, Dove Cameron and Jennifer Lopez. She also played in price discounts such as Oscars, Grammys, Billboard Music Awards and Latin American Music Awards.
Dance spirit Caught up with Steele Fresh Off the Think Later World Tour to discuss everything in dance, from viral choreography to performance with Tate McRae.
The lifestyle of the tour
“One of the most difficult parts of the tour,” says Steele, “remains healthy”. In Europe, she did three consecutive days, which meant sleeping on the bus for the nights between the two. “It is really difficult to sleep on a bus, but the recovery time is so important for your body.” The same goes for eating enough food, she said, and balance the fun nights spent exploring with the Restful nights.
Before a show, Steele values its calm time above all. While some people like to be pumped before performance, she says that walking on stage with her increased nervous system let her tremble. “I like to calm myself before the start of all madness.” Steele sometimes uses meditation to reach this state of calm before a spectacle or even in his daily life.

“This is the magic of Sean Bankhead,” says Steele about the online popularity of his choreography. “His choreography is still becoming viral.” She also attributes the positive buzz to chemistry between her group of rescue dancers. “I think we are a funny group.
By working with McRae
So, what is it like a dance backup for an artist as skilful in dance as McRae? His choreography is welcomed to the dancers, of one thing. And according to Steele, everything moves much faster because of McRae dance training. “She collects things in 2.5 seconds … Probably faster than many dancers”, which means fewer repetitions. “It makes us want to be better and faster too.”
From her personal relationship with McRae, Steele says: “I have always known the tate through the circuit of the Convention … It is cool to look at it. She adds that the Dance Foundation of McRae allows her to understand in a unique way what her rescue dancers do.” She really values the dance and the value of our time and our talents.
Advice for young dancers
To do it in the commercial world, Steele says: “Do not let people put you in a box. She underlines the importance of meeting as many people as possible and presenting herself as you yourself the nicest and most hardworking.” You never know who you will meet … They could become the next McRae tape! “
Look towards the future
What would the youngest of Steele say if she could see her now? “I think it would be happy if I could play most nights and travel in all these incredible places in which I always wanted to go.” Steele has long dreamed of tours and travel for dance. Having achieved these objectives, she is delighted to explore the side of production of things by helping the choreographers.
