Louisville, Ky. (AP) – Thieves took eight corvettes from the lot of a Kentucky automotive factory where the legendary muscle car is built, but the police recovered the vehicles and arrest, the police said.
The cars have been taken from the GM Bowling Green assembly plant in southern Kentucky, the Maison de la Chevrolet Corvette since the early 1980s. The eight cars were evaluated at $ 1.2 million, police said.
The police said that the thieves had cut a fence in the factory to take out the cars. A man arrested later and accused of theft of three cars said that when he was reserved in prison that if he “returned to Michigan, I would have paid big,” said a police report.
The first car was located on Saturday when a woman in an apartment complex in Bowling Green called the police to say that she saw a man to park a new corvette with stickers on it at the complex, then move away.
The police contacted the director of the assembly plant, who checked the inventory and reported that eight corvettes were missing, according to a Bowling Green police report.
Later, the police located four other corvets in different places.
The last three were found after the police received a call from a carrier driver who said he was invited to come to a place to take a former Corvette model to transport to Michigan. When the driver arrived, he saw three new Corvettes from 2025 and told the police that the two men trying to move them were in a hurry. He also noticed damage to the bottom of the cars and qualified the transaction as “bizarre”, according to the quote.
When the police arrived, they owned a 21 -year -old man after a prosecution and charged him with receiving stolen property, fleeing the arrest and engaging with organized crime. Another man fled into a jeep with Ohio labels, police said.
Ronnie Ward, head of public information for the Bowling Green police, said on Tuesday that no other arrest had been made.
