This report is the inaugural report of dance Project® (DDP) examining the gender equity of performance programming and artistic directors during international dance festivals. It relies on the search for previous DDP festivals, which mainly focused on American festivals or a mixture of American and international festivals.
DDP 2023 American dance festival reportAnalyze 39 festivals and 1007 works, while this report extends to 69 festivals and 1096 works, marking a significant increase in the scope. In addition, for the first time, DDP followed the number of times a part was made, offering a more in-depth overview of programming trends beyond a simple number of unique works. By focusing exclusively on festivals based outside the United States, this report establishes a basis for continuous analysis of world gender equity in the programming of dance festivals.
